چکیده

We analyze a sample of multiple-exoplanet systems which contain at least 3 transiting planets detected by the Kepler mission (‘Kepler multiples’). We use a generalized Titius-Bode relation to predict the periods of 228 additional planets in 151 of these Kepler multiples. These Titius-Bode-based predictions suggest that there are, on average, 2± 1 planets in the habitable zone of each star. We estimate the inclination of the invariable plane for each system and prioritize our planet predictions by their geometric probability to transit. We highlight a short list of 77 predicted planets in 40 systems with a high geometric probability to transit, resulting in an expected detection rate of ∼ 15 per cent, ∼ 3 times higher than the detection rate of our previous Titius-Bode-based predictions.

The Titius-Bode law and a quantum-like description of the planetary systems

The Titius-Bode law for planetary distances is reviewed. A model describing the basic features of this law in the ”quantum-like” language of a wave equation is proposed. Some considerations about the ’t Hooft idea on the quantum behaviour of deterministic systems with dissipation are discussed.

Exoplanet Predictions Based on Harmonic Orbit Resonances

The current exoplanet database includes 5454 confirmed and candidate planets observed with the Kepler mission. We find 932 planet pairs from which we extract distance and orbital period ratios. While earlier studies used a logarithmic spacing, which lacks a physical model, we employ here the theory of harmonic orbit resonances, which contains quantized ratios instead, to explain the observed pl...

A Potential Super-venus in the Kepler-69 System

Transiting planets have greatly expanded and diversified the exoplanet field. These planets provide greater access to characterization of exoplanet atmospheres and structure. The Kepler mission has been particularly successful in expanding the exoplanet inventory, even to planets smaller than the Earth. The orbital period sensitivity of the Kepler data is now extending into the Habitable Zones ...

On the Significance of the Titius-Bode Law for the Distribution of the Planets

The radii of the planetary and satellite orbits are in approximate agreement with geometric progressions. The question of whether the observed patterns have some physical basis or are due to chance may be addressed using a Monte Carlo approach. We find that the estimated probability of chance occurrence depends sensitively on the restrictions imposed on the population of orbits. We argue that i...
